Workforce Development

The Port of Seattle’s Workforce Development (WFD) program operates within the Economic Development Division (EDD) to develop external partnerships that support equitable access to well-paying, port-related careers in maritime, construction, aviation, and green jobs. WFD partners with local organizations to provide resources and training to structurally excluded communities. In particular, WFD connects Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, immigrants and refugees, youth, and women to career and leadership training opportunities. By prioritizing these communities, we’re working to build a diverse and equitable workforce and to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to succeed and thrive. With racial equity at the forefront, the Port of Seattle ensures that opportunities are shared fairly and intentionally, especially with communities that have been historically underrepresented or directly impacted by Port operations.

Position the Port of Seattle as an economic engine through strategic partnerships to develop a skilled, diverse workforce to access and advance in port-related careers.
